A recent UCLA study revealed that internet-savvy subjects had higher levels of brain activity when undertaking a web search compared to those subjects with no web experience. This suggests that internet searches may be an activity that keeps the brain engaged – preserving brain health and thinking ability.

Some simple facts I found today. Did you know that there are now more Australian people online than watching television? Or that product and service research is the second biggest online activity behind email? Having a web presence – any web presence is becoming more and more vital. Only last weekend a friend was commenting that she chose a particular service provider because it was the only local one with a website. I also did the same when trying to find an accountant.

“Without a website it’s as if their business doesn’t exist in the eyes of the web-enabled consumer”. Found this interesting survey/article by MYOB that points out that only 41% of Australian Small Businesses currently have a website. While the article provides such statistics it doesn’t suggest any reasons why this might be case. Is it a lack money, time, knowledge or are they simply getting enough business through traditional mechanisms?
